Harushika “Junmai Ginjo” Reviews

This was a miss for me. I am giving it four stars, instead of three, simply because I did enjoy most of each sip and it being only the last note that held it back. The nose was light and floral with a subtle hint of fruit, so it had a nice start. Then it had an almost white wine taste with other fruit-like flavors mixed in. It was rich, smooth, and overall pleasant. As it is listed in the tasting notes, I am not sure if it was the anise flavor that threw things off for me or if it was something else. After the creamy, fruity body, I was hit with an herbal aftertaste that while not unpleasant, kept this one from being completely enjoyable. I tried it chilled on separate evenings and it was present during both tastings. This one was hard for me, as I really want to love each bottle I try, but this just was not one of them. I guess it was bound to happen. Thankfully, I have several others to experience in my sake club order, so on to the next one.
