“Nice enough sake. I was thinking it should be more special - it is packaged as if Gekkeikan was trying to show off how wonderful a sake they can make, but it is merely good. Luckily, it isn't priced as fancily as it is packaged. Drinking it paired with an empty stomach, it was too sweet for my taste. I was feeling rather dismissive towards it, but later had it with a spicy asian meal. It shone there, perfect pairing.”

“Gekkeikan 'Black & Gold' is one of the richer, more floral sake products. There is a bit more sweetness. It is clean and well-made. I have purchased it locally and through Tipsy. I serve it chilled but the bottle will also support gentle heating (if the top is removed to avoid the build-up of internal pressure.”
