I was surprised when I received the unit, it was built very tough, thick steel all around, and any desk that goes up and down costs far more than this, even the idiotic things that you put on top of your desk to move the monitor and keyboard up and down cost more than this. My one mistake was pairing this monster with the enhanced cardboard tabletop from Ikea. I must have saved $20 and the Ikea desktop looks worse every day. With the desktop, you get what you pay for, but the part that goes up and down is a deal. Yeah, the crank requires some practice to keep it from sliding off, and the two legs got out of sync (no idea how that happened) but disconnecting the center drive rod allowed me to get them level again, no problems since; I've had it for many months and the action has loosened so it goes down with ease, as in, I need to insert the crank to stop auto lowering (but why if I want it to go down, fun to watch actually) I wish everything was built like my desk frame, but Earth would run out of steel. Good job guys, I see more of these in my future.

It is a very fine desk that I was able to use with a Linnmon surface at ikea (59" x 29") and the side holes line up almost perfectly with a set of ikea holes. I also learned that a 6mm Hex key cut to fit in an electric drill will serve as a lovely motor for the desk.
