The Plate-Loaded Lever Curl Dumbbell is very nice as a single bar. I listened to one reviewer and bought two. I connected them together with a 5/8” fully threaded 48” long rod and technically it is no longer a dumbbell. I shackle the dual Plate-Loaded Lever Curl Bars to the two carabineers at the ends of this dually on my X-3 rack and it is ready for use. I am happy with the single Plate-Loaded Lever Curl Dumbbell however two is even better. This connection uses 8 nuts, 28 washers (various), 4 lock washers, and 5/8” fully threaded 48” long rod, 2 carabineers, three 1ft stainless rods with inner diameters of 5/8", and three 1ft stainless rods with inner diameters of 3/4". The stainless steel rods are implemented over each other for strength. The only trick is to use washers large enough that the carabineers at ends of the dually are sandwiched and can't come loose. These can be connected with a 5/8” fully threaded bar 18” to 24”, if one does not want to shackle or store this 48” version. I am very happy with my purchase of two Plate-Loaded Lever Curl Dumbbells.

Loading pegs are too small for collars to work. I have to put an old sock on the damn thing to get it to grip. Looks stupid as hell and makes plate changes difficult. Why????

I like these a lot, however, I purchased two of them so I would have one for each arm, and due to the hand grip and weight horn being welded, you can't set them up exactly the same on each arm, which leads to one feeling somewhat different than the other when using two at the same time. If the handle and weight horn were also bolt-on vs. welded, this issue would be solved as it would allow you to set the pad, handle, and weight horn exactly how you want them on each hand. Not bad for the price compared to other similar options still though.

Very pleased. You can feel the load shift fully to your forearms at peak normal db curl; somehow I'm getting a pronounced cam-effect at that point, so I'm still shifting some of the load at peak -- but still feel the load pulling against my bicep. The proof this works is having to start at less than 1/2 normal supinated db load; I can move the normal full load about 1/2 way up; after a week I let myself go to full-1/2-load+ and I can get a few reps (ie more than one) out of this. The pad prevents full skull crushers, so I removed the pad's cover and had to cut the roller off (its pin is greater than 1" so it's almost welded on under compression) -- and skull crushers are intolerable on the forearm without a pad. Not sure why, because as the UK company that makes these says their unpadded leverage pin feels natural, it's not at all a problem with curls. Skullcrushers: feel your ulna/radius bend. MMA forarm pads/soccer shin guards might prevent this; cheap foam pipe insulation should be thin enough to not interfere with full skullcrusher ROM, but since skullcrushers require more weight it's just easier to try and fail at other advanced tricep stuff (eg tate presses which laugh at me and my wrists.) The unique feel of the lever and more load throughout the curl arc is extremely subtle, slightly more pronounced than cable curls, but again the proof this is doing *something* is having to cut your normal db load in half. There's no neuro adjustment period, so what you can't lift initially, you can't lift a week later either. No bicep pump from this, probably because you're underloading what you're used to for at least the first half of the arc. Very solid piece with aggressive adjustment teeth; I've not pulled it out to the full 180* though that would undoubtedly make the first half of the arc totally embarrasing. But for pump I guess you can keep it at 90* and just load it up to full normal db load for bottom-partials. Then an isometric hold at movement-failure, elbow at ~90*... it hurts just thinking about it. Now I have to try that. I've put heavy chains on a db handle for supinated curls, which is the only other exercise I've felt that pronounced cam-like pop at peak, but you can feel the load shift almost fully to your forearm with chains, so I haven't found a curl method as full-load-throughout-arc as this "dumbbell" other than *maybe* spider curls. Storage in a small overstuffed room isn't up to you, this thing rests where it feels like.

Just got my lever curl dumbbell and used it yesterday. I would recommend buying two if you like this, since the weight tends to lean to one side or the other depending on how you set it up. If you intend to switch arms during your workout, you will feel the weight stronger on the inside or outside of the exercise. I'm going to keep using it since they are out of stock but just be aware that you may want to get 2.

Good not only for curls, I've used them for tricep extensions, side lateral raises, and chest flys
