Fjallraven Men's Greenland Winter Jacket Deep Forest / Small Reviews

4.3 Rating 4 Reviews
I'm really happy with how this coat is turning out. The outer is extremely resilient against scratches and tears from twigs and firewood and so on, and it's properly warm (so far only down to -2°C but I've been just fine sitting still in that with t-shirt, shirt, wool, and coat) - more than enough for general Australian conditions. The Forest Green is a nice colour and is a little deeper than it looks on screen, but that's definitely a good thing. Build quality is excellent, all the buttons and zippers feel extremely robust, and the coat has a nice weight to it. I have a pretty long neck, but the hood fits great - you could wear it over a beanie, but definitely not a helmet. Very reasonably priced, and only took about 3 days to arrive from interstate. I couldn't be happier. If you're thinking of buying online, I hope this info is useful too: I'm 193cm, 88kg, 102cm chest and I bought a large - it's one of the best fitting coats I've ever had. The measurements of the actual coat (size L) are: Half chest (front) - 59cm Underarm - 58cm (seam to cuff) Overarm - 70cm (seam to cuff) Length - 76cm (from shoulder, not including hood)

Wow this is an excellent review Joe! We really appreciate you taking the time to write it, especially including measurements! You're a legend! Thank you for your kind words and support of Tom's Outdoors :)
Despite the overall goodness of the design and comfort of the design it is totally let down by the complicated zipper design that makes it very difficult to align so that you can properly zip it up. Eventually my zipper broke and I now can fortunately use the press studs. It is hard to understand how some a beautiful jacket with some superb design features can be let down by something so mundane as a zipper.

It's already getting cool here in Tasmania half way through April. I decided to try the Greenland Winter jacket in Medium size given that I've been buying synthetic puffer-style down jackets for years and wanted something different. Thanks to Chris at Toms, I had mine literally the next day. Bravo team! :) The jacket became my favourite literally minutes after trying it on for the first time. The slick sleeve inners allowed my wooden jumper to ride up into the sleeves smoothly and without catching. Nice. The bulk is very different to a puffer - it's a relatively heavy jacket by comparison and I really like that. It imparts a feeling of solidity and protection, without being a monster. It's warm enough when moving - even with a high wind blowing, and chill factors heading below zero. It's not a jacket I'd want to be caught in a blizzard in, but for expected duties around the property it's duck's guts. The G-100 didn't stay bare for long - I applied the Greenland wax with a hair dryer and really concentrated on shoulders, upper back, lower front and outer sleeves. The result is a jacket that is eminently comfortable and even "teddy bear" like in its feel. I really like it. I will probably order the standard Greenland jacket now just as a lighter weight choice when needed. Best jacket. :)
