“I purchased this mat for a seven day hike in the Flinders Ranges. I am a skinny person who is a side sleeper and wanted something that would ensure my hips weren’t hitting the ground and creating pressure points. I also wanted something with an R value of 4.5 or higher as I am also a very cold sleeper and the nights in the Flinders Ranges can get very frosty. This mat turned out to be perfect and delivered everything I was after and more. It was so comfortable and woke refreshed and ready to go every morning. I also purchased the Exped Schnozzle Bag which made inflation much quicker and was a godsend as even with the schnozzle bag it still took 3-5 minutes to inflate. Not sure how long it would take to inflate using just your hand. The mat was very easy to deflate, roll up and put into its stuff sack. However I would recommend making sure you have absolutely all of the air out of the mat before trying to put it into the sack, because it is a little tight if you don’t! I opened the “out” valve while packing up other stuff and then rolled it 3 times to get as much air out as I could.
I highly recommend this mat . It was perfect for what I wanted and at just over a kilo, wasn’t a burden to carry in my pack.”
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this great review Sheree! We're so glad to hear that you had an excellent experience with your Exped mat. We hope your time in the Flinders Ranges was incredible! :)
“Tried this at -1º two nights ago. Insulation and comfort as good as they say. No part of my body, including hips, touched the ground. Easy to keep clean. Quite wide enough for me. Rolls to a compact size. The mat has a Teflon-like surface which means - as I camped on a slight slope - I found myself sliding down during the night. The two-hand built-in inflation system works, but it's faster to blow the mat up using lung power. I recommend this mat and look forward to using it on my next walk.”
