“I've been a big fan of Petzl lights for a very long time - remember those early heavy models that felt like you were carrying around something to build your neck muscles? This perhaps is an exaggeration, but they were heavy. I was so pleased when lighter models started to hit the market, though I seemed to find it difficult to find one that balanced the need for decent light with battery longevity for the things I do - either not enough light or not enough battery life.
After quite a few years of using a 450 lumen light headlamp, I decided to reassess where that balance was at. Hence, the Actik Core 600.
For me, this really works. I've used it up in the mountains - Australia and the Himalaya - and for the kind of trekking I do, the early starts for trekking peaks and around camp I've found it really good. And carrying around a small powerbank means I can charge it if needed if I'm out for a while.
