“Over two decades I've used many different pumps and squeeze filters to purify water. The MSR Trailshot has one of the fastest flow rates, is the smallest, and the most convenient to use. The only downside is the lack of a tube on the outlet to easily fill containers with small openings (you have to hold both pump and bottle), but that lack of outlet tube is also one of the benefits - less tangles, and so easy to pop the inlet hose in water and drink directly from the outlet - in an environment there's water every mile or so I wouldn't bother collecting water at all - and then water is always nice and cool fresh from the stream. It fits nearly into the stretchy side pocket on my pack so it's fast. Filtering water is no longer a chore.”
