“This does a great job of reducing smoke and keeping all the wood in the firepit burning. Once the walls of the unit have heated up from the fire it keeps wood placed around the inside edges of the pit burning cleanly with no, or very little, smoke. We have been burning QLD ironbark and have been happily surprised by how effective this unit is. No more smoky/smouldering ends of logs!
One consideration to keep in mind is the unit does reduce horizontal radiant heat from the fire. If you have the Jikaro table as well this can work nicely as it prevents items placed on the table (like cold drinks) from getting hot. On the flip side if you are sitting close to the fire for warmth it will mean that whatever part of your body is at the same level as the Floga (likely your knees/ lower torso) won't receive as much warmth.
Folds up into a fairly compact size (a bit bigger than a large shoe box).
The storage bag is a thin woven material (Nylon?) that appears durable - similar to what Snow Peak provide on other products like their folding chairs. Should last for many years and keeps the unit neatly stored with protection from scratches but not from bumps.
Overall a great purchase and we are enjoying it.”
