“We purchased the Skip after our children started outgrowing their Weenie Waves. We chose to go Safari as they are Aussie made and had seen a couple of outdoor ed organisations using the brand.
Our Skip has now been used about 10 times. Children between 28kg and 45kg have paddled it in local lakes and the surf. Its stable enough for them to comfortable fish off and stand and SUP. They have been having fun so I will give it the thumbs up. A few adults up to about 85kg have used it in small surf with no problems.
Pros- light, stable, high bow good in surf and chop, low height doesn't catch the wind and excellent side handles make portage easy.
Cons- are mainly a tradeoff of the above- its not quick and the low height gives a wet ride. Durability is fair but as long as the kids treat it with respect around rocks I expect it to provide years of fun.
