Dodge NP205 Applications 7th Hole 1994-up Dodge Matching Parts Lubricants, Sealants, Threadlockers NV4500 Tools Applications
Tech Note 1: RTV Use? There is no need to apply RTV to the gasket unless the mating flanges are gouged or damaged. Tech Note 2: Dodge NP205 ApplicationsOn Dodge NP205 applications, use of this gasket at the front of the factory adapter and an original equipment thickness hourglass gasket between the adapter and transfer case is critical for maintaining adequate clearance between the transmission output shaft and transfer case input shaft. Tech Note 3: 7th HoleThere are seven holes in this gasket. Six are for the mounting studs/bolts. The seventh hole is for a dowel pin which is mainly found on 1980-1997 Ford applications and a few Dodge models. If you would prefer a gasket without the dowel hole, order TK30052. Tech Note 4: 1994-up DodgeEffective with the 1994 model year, Dodge did not use any type of gasket between the transmission and transfer case, however if you wish to use a gasket for your 1994-up Dodge Ram, TK10519 is the part to use. Tech Note 5: Matching PartsExploded View XV4005 1980-1993 Dodge NP205 Transfer Case Tech Note 6: Lubricants, Sealants, ThreadlockersEarly production NV4500 Transmissions used an anaerobic sealant (QU90003) to seal between the main case and input bearing retainer, top cover, and rear housing. Mid-production units used anaerobic sealant just on the input retainer and RTV for everything else. Later production transmissions used black RTV Sealant (QU90006 or QU90005) for everything. Either type of sealant works fine (except the PTO covers ALWAYS should be sealed with RTV), but I prefer RTV for all components. Regardless of which sealant you use, make sure excess sealant does not block the lube access hole at the top of input retainer pilot that fits into the transmission case. Also, the threaded holes in the main case for the four retainer bolts and 12 PTO bolts are open ended, so you must use new bolts with factory applied threadlocker or apply Threadlocker (S24200) to your existing bolts to prevent oil seepage past the bolt threads.
