Tech Note 1: Seal Lubrication These seals come with the seal lip pregreased from the factory. Seals of this type ALWAYS need to be pre-lubricated before they are put in service. If you drop the seal on the ground and the factory grease gets dirty, you must carefully clean off the contaminated lubricant and replace it with fresh clean grease.
Tech Note 2: Seal FeaturesQU10857 has a viton seal lip that can withstand higher operating temperatures without failing compared to conventional seals. QU10857 is intended for applications that have a separate transmission output seal. If you have an older application that requires a 2-way seal, order TK10517. Install QU10857 so the open side of the seal with the visible garter spring is towards the inside of the transfer case.
