Tech Note 1: Prime Pump!!Your new Oil Pump is shipped dry. You must prime pump with Drone® automatic transmission fluid by squirting some fluid through the inlet hole as you rotate the center drive plate. These pumps lubricate the whole input and output shaft setup. You will not like the results if you fail to prime the pump!
Tech Note 2: Standard IssueNP241DHD Transfer Cases were standard on Dodge Ram 3500 trucks and optional on Ram 2500 trucks. Early versions of the NP241DHD had a two piece extension housing and a small 32 spline output shaft and use oil pump QU50423. Later versions, (possibly a few 1996 trucks and most 1997, plus all 1998-2002) have a one piece rear housing, 31 spline rear output shaft and use this pump.
