Tech Note 1: Prime the Pump!!!Your new Oil Pump is shipped dry. You must prime pump with Dexron® automatic transmission fluid or approved transfer case fluid by squirting some fluid through the inlet hole as you rotate the center drive plate. These pumps lubricate the whole input and output shaft setup. You will not like the results if you fail to prime the pump!
Tech Note 2: NP241DHD ApplicationsNew Process NP241DLD Transfer Cases were standard on Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 trucks from 1994 to 2002. All NP241DLD models use this oil pump. NP241DHD Transfer Cases were standard on Dodge Ram 3500 trucks and optional on Ram 2500 trucks for the same years. Early versions of the NP241DHD had a two piece extension housing and a small 32 spline output shaft and use this oil pump QU50423. Later versions, (possibly a few 1996 trucks and most 1997, plus all 1998-2002) have a one piece rear housing, 31 spline rear output shaft and use QU10936 oil pump.
Tech Note 3: Product SpecsQU10972 has 38 internal splines. It fits transfer case rear output shafts that have 32 splines for the slip yoke and 38 splines for the oil pump and speedometer gear (transfer case speedometer drives were used by Dodge up to 1997).
