QU10993 Chain Sprocket for New Process, New Venture NV271 and NV273 Transfer Cases is a genuine New Process original equipment replacement part for use in Dodge and Ford 4x4 Trucks. Two of these Sprockets are used in every Dodge NV271D, NV273D, and Ford NV271F, NV273F New Process Transfer Cases. QU10993 is the Drive Sprocket on the Rear Output Shaft and the Driven Sprocket on the Front Output Shaft.

Tech Note 1: Teeth WearDodge does not offer a lockout hub option on 2003 and newer Dodge Ram 2500, Ram 3500, Ram 4500, and Ram 5500 4x4 trucks, so even in 4x2 mode, the front axle shafts, differential, front driveshaft, transfer case front output shaft and the transfer case chain/sprockets are always rotating when you drive even though they are not under power. Besides sucking a bit of power and fuel, all these rotating components are subject to wear. On both Dodge and Ford makes you should replace the chain when doing major transfer case service, plus you should inspect the sprockets for wear on the teeth. If you can feel teeth wear with your fingernail, REPLACE BOTH the SPROCKETS and CHAIN!
Tech Note 2: ChainIf you need to replace worn sprockets, you also need to replace the chain.

Tech Note 4: NPG-NVG-MPTIn 1998, when Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y. was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same, and uses the same replacement parts, regardless if it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
