Tech Note 1: Locking AbilityThese lock nuts are designed to be used only once. The locking ability of the nut is at its maximum on the initial installation. When setting up an axle, I use the old nut until the pinion depth and pinion preload is set. I then apply medium strength Threadlocker (see S9978, S24200) to a new nut and install it with a 1-1/8" socket.
