Tech Note 1: Redesigned
The original 1970's design for this thrust washer called for a bronze part. However, under adverse conditions, such as inadequate lubrication or dirt contamination, the bronze part had a tendency to wear, and in extreme cases groove the axle shaft. The redesigned plastic thrust washer was introduced in the 1980's. Tech Note 2: Before Installing Before installing your new QU40066 Thrust Washer, apply a film of grease to both sides. Install the Thrust Washer so the chambered side is against the axle shaft face. Tech Note 3: Always Use With QU40066 Spindle Thrust Washer is always used in conjunction with QU40064 Axle Shaft Slinger, QU40065 Dana Outer Axle Shaft Large V-Seal, QU40148 Small Spindle V-Seal, and QU40149 Spindle Bearing.
