QU40700 31 Spline Rear Output Slip Yoke for 1996-1997 Dodge Ram NP241DHD Transfer Case and 1994-1997 4x2 NV4500HD Transmission with a 2-3/16" approximate outside diameter is a USA made, genuine original equipment rear output yoke used for coupling your rear driveshaft to New Process NP241DHD transfer cases with 31 spline rear output shafts in 1996-1997 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 4x4 trucks. QU40700 is also used on 1994-1997 Dodge Ram 2500 and Dodge Ram 3500 4x2 trucks with Cummins Diesel or gas V-10 engines and NV4500HD transmissions. This slip yoke directly replaces production yokes without vibration dampers and is the replacement part for QU40499 yoke with a vibration damper which has been discontinued. Matching universal joint is TK40705.

Tech Note 1: LubricateLubricate the seal lip and yoke shaft with clean grease or petroleum jelly to provide initial lubrication.
Tech Note 2: Tech HelpMore driveshaft yokes are wrecked by slam-bang methods of u-joint replacement than by any other cause. Refer to TM3000 Driveshaft and Universal Joint Manual or TSB3502 External Snap Ring Single-Cardan U-Joint Service.
Tech Note 3: Bushings and SealsAlways replace the rear output bushing and seal when installing a new yoke. For NP241DHD 4x4 Transfer Cases, use with QU90025 Rear Output Bushing and QU50171 Rear Output Seal. If you have a 4x2 truck with a NV4500HD 5 speed or NV5600 6 speed manual transmission, use QU10025 Rear Output Bushing and QU10023 Rear Output Seal.
Tech Note 4: U-Joint SpecsThis 31 spline transfer case rear output yoke takes universal joints made to Spicer 1410 series dimensional specifications. The u-joint cup diameter is 1-3/16", the overall u-joint width must be 4-3/16". Use with TK40705 or QU40789 universal joints. QU40700 is specific to 1994-1997 Dodge applications and it measures 8-11/32" from center of u-joint to end. For conversion applications, also see QU40354 Yoke for 1998-2002 Dodge which measures 7-3/4" from center of u-joint to end.
Tech Note 5: Product NoteThis Slip Yoke has one double width spline so it will fit shafts made with 31 narrow splines or shafts with 29 narrow splines and one double width spline (what is called a 30 spline based on 31 spline).
