These tools are an absolutely essential investment for anyone replacing Ball Joints on the big Dodge 4x4s equipped with the AAM 925 front drive axle as the Ball Joints are a very tight press fit in the axle "C" forging. Tech Note 3: Pressed in AxleUnlike older trucks, AAM 9-1/4" Dodge Ram front axle ball joints are pressed into the axle itself, not the steering knuckle, so you can't use a shop press like the 94-99 trucks. I Strongly recommend the use of a Ball Joint Press Set when removing your old ball joints and pressing the new ones in.
Tech Note 4: RemovingThe first time an AAM axle has to come apart, it is usually an absolute WITCH to separate the wheel hub assemblies from the steering knuckle as AAM did not use any anti corrosion compound between the wheel hub flange and steering knuckle. I strongly suggest you get my color illustrated, step by step 6 page Tech Service Bulletin TSB4586 4x4 Dodge Truck Ball Joint Service 9.25 Axle so you know what you are getting into. Almost all the wheel hubs we sell for these AAM axles are to replace original hubs wrecked by slam bang disassembly methods. The good news is, if you properly reassemble your axle, the next time you need to take the hubs off, they will come right off with no trouble at all.
