Tech Note 1: LubricationAfter installing the Bushing, apply a little petroleum jelly to provide start up lubrication.
Tech Note 2: NPG-NVG-MPTThe 271D and 273D transfer cases were built at Chrysler's New Process Gear plant in Syracuse, New York until that plant closed in 2010 and assembly was shifted to Mexico. When production of these transfer cases began in mid 2002, the New Process plant was operated by New Venture Gear, hence the NV prefix. New Venture, which was a joint venture between Chrysler and General Motors folded a short time later. The NV prefix continued to be used even after New Process was sold to Canadian owned Magna, but you may find later models referred to NP instead of NV models. For a specific assembly number, the Transfer Case and all the component parts are the same regardless if it is identified as an NP or NV assembly.
