Tech Note 1: Common MythContrary to popular belief, the Drive Chain can not cause a clunk or contribute to "slack" in the drive train in 4x2 mode. The chain is only under power in 4x4 mode. Except for late 2002 trucks that did not have the vacuum controlled Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) system, the chain does not even move in 4x2 mode as the chain and the front differential are disconnected.
Tech Note 2: NP241DLDNP241DLD transfer cases were standard on 1994-2002 Ram 2500 4x4 trucks. This model of transfer case was not used for any other application.
Tech Note 3: Use Correct ChainsIn addition to having the correct length, width, and link height, a replacement transfer case drive chain must have the same type of link pins as the original equipment chain. Why? Because transfer case sprocket teeth are machined with specific features and angles that match a specific link and pin type. Our QU50071 chains exactly match the original equipment specifications because they ARE original equipment chains.
