“We ordered a custom plate to rename our trophy after a league mate who passed away tragically. We were able to not rename the trophy but also include pictures of him on the plate. It was already a great trophy but now it really means something to the whole league.”

I still think they need to offer a choice for plates with holes so rivets or screws can be used instead of the sticky backing.
Hardware will probably work better for custom trophies.
