“Call me old fashioned and naïve but I always imagine truffles to fill a room with their pungent aromas within a matter of seconds. Nothing could be further from the case in my experience. The truffle, while presenting as perfection in all ways, lacked almost all flavour and brought nothing to the dishes I had planned. My mistake, as in retrospect I bought far too early in the season. In this case ignorance was far from bliss but of my own fruition.”
