“Build quality is excellent as was the packaging, there is real weight to this Streaming DAC. Very solidly built! The unit set up easily, immediately saw my NAS drive and collated my music, which I appreciated because of how quickly and easily I was able to start listening to my music, effortless. The control knob on the front panel has a great feel, easy to understand how to move between the various settings, and more than enough control over your music and fine tuning its sound. The large info screen on the front is easy to read and I appreciate that the album art shows when streaming along with a song progression bar which visually allows you to know how far into a song you are and when it is about to end so you can get ready and queue up more music. The sound quality is excellent. No digital glare nor listener fatigue. The DAC really brings out a full sound, the bass is excellent with real weight and detail, nor bloat. The sound stage is wide, deep and tall. Musicians / instruments are layered throughout the sound stage and give an in the room presence. The DAC is capable of bringing out little details that add to the texture, body and feel of both instruments and voice. Great dynamic impact which is one quality that helps give the music that live feeling. The volume control I have not tried since I have a line stage that I really like I did not feel any need to try this units nor have I tried the headphone amplifier. The unit took sometime to fully break in. The first few weeks I was not sure I was going to keep the unit due to its costs versus sound on certain types of files. It did not sound bad but did not handle all forms of my files equally. My flak files that I ripped from my CD collection, hi-res downloads, and MQA files streamed from Tidal all sounded well recorded and beautiful to listen to, as they should, but on the lower quality files that I own did not seem to sound as good as they did on other DACs. Their lower sampling rate really shown through. This all changed once the unit was fully broken in and those lower quality files certainly did not sound as good as the audiophile ones, but I had no objection to them any longer and they were enjoyable and non-fatiguing to listen to. The sound seemed to smooth out when playing them, they did not have any rough edges as they seemed to have prior to the unit fully breaking in. The Auralic Lightning DS program set itself up but I was not 100% comfortable with using it nor did I like the sound on lower quality files. On the higher quality files it sounded terrific, maybe even better than Roon, but on lower quality files it really exaggerated the flaws to such an extent I could not listen to them. Part of this might be due to having been committed to Roon for over a year and was very familiar with the program and maybe the other part was the unit was not fully broken in yet. I keep meaning to go back to it to give it another shot now that the unit is fully broken in but Roon works so well with the Auralic Vega G1 that I have no motivation to do so. I highly recommend this Streaming DAC to anyone who wants to move to Streaming but has hesitated due to the fear that it might be overly complex. It has a wonderfully detailed yet smooth sound that effortlessly finds your files and gets you started almost immediately. Five Stars ***** Lastly - ordering, delivery and follow-up by Upscale Audio was excellent, another Five Star ***** rating!”

“This is a solid piece of audio equipment. The DAC is clean without sounding overly digital. The streamer works great and after owning this for over a couple of months, I would purchase the Auralic Vega G1 again, if I had to do this over. Great product.”
