“Kat sold me this little gem. Thanks! I have more than 10,000 records and didn't want to go up to the next $2000 level due to my collection ranges from VG+ to mint. This Blackbird does nicely on rock, jazz and classical. Nice rounded bass notes rolling out of my Tannoys. Here again though I wonder about the next level up with my SME-5 arm.”

“Pairs perfectly with my Rega P6 and PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium. The amount of detail coming out of the vinyl is just absurd. This is my first audiophile quality TT setup, and I couldn't be happier. Kat was, as always, amazing to work with!!!!”

“This cartridge brings out life on all music genres. Tracks perfectly well once all critical alignments are achieved. Matches great on all of my phono preamps, from all-tube to tube hybrids to solid states. I only have a few hours on this and it's such a pleasure to listen to. “This is my first MC cartridge and I find it a huge step up from my previous cartridges. I have it mounted to a Jelco SA250ST tonearm and it is being fed to my PrimaLuna Prologue Classic through a Jolida JD9 MK1 phono stage. I am about 35 hours into listening to this and it has settled in nicely. It has very low surface noise transfer and an extremely dynamic sound. I have had to adjust the VTA a few times while it has settled in but that is easy enough to do on my setup. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.”

“I started this hobby 45 years ago. Since then I have been on a never ending quest for the perfect system. My first "audiophile" cartridge was a Shure V-15 Type IV. It was time for an upgrade. I have been buying from Upscale for over a year. I have learned more from Upscale than anyone I have ever bought from. I know when I am being "sold" which has happened a lot over the years. Upscale takes looked at my equipment and made several recommendations. I really think they want their customers to get the best product for their budget. The Sumiko Blackbird is a great cartridge. It really sings with my Musical Fidelity M6 phonostage and Primaluna Dialogue 7 monoblocks (also bought at Upscale). My system has never sounded so good, thanks to Upscale's advice.”
