Definitely needed to improve the quality of the ethernet side. It is the foundation/base. Without it you will be missing out from the start. Get the signal right from the start then continue from there. Very musical in one word.

Audiophile here with a moderate hearing loss. I discovered with the assistance of a master high end audio himself and dealer that the age related prigressive loss is more aptly described as signal/noise ratio, where the numerator is reduced. This is mitigated by reducing both the presence of noise, but signal processing which drops the noise below audible ration, thus artificially decreasing the denominator. As with any division, reductions on the denominator has far greater influence in any ratio/fraction than changes in the numerator. My joy in music and speech on video calls was remarkably and perceptively restored. Using a recording mastering DAC with EQ and headphone amplifier (RME ADI Pro 2 fs, and great headphones (Focal Stellia and Audeze LCD-3), made a vast difference. Then I discovered the Chord Electric Cloud Ethernet Switch. The Ethernet from the wall is stripped of much of its noise by the great filtering algorithms. The computer adds noise back, but the nanosecond clocks on each channel retime the stream, drop the noise below audible thresholds and human speech emerges as was spoken on the other end. There is an Electric Cloud for each business computer. My audio system is one where the noisy power supplies are separate boxes, with the EMI aimed and shaped into an upward cone. Seventeen rails to precise power titration go to the signal processing units about a meter away. One Electric Cloud intercepts the incoming Ethernet. Another sits between my Roon media server and the streamer. It is, for me, the best sound venue on the planet. I am so happy that my career prior to the relatively sudden hearing loss (rare but known, though not to me, side effect of a medication) allowed me to afford these “sensory prosthetics. My passionate engagement with wonderfully produced music was restored. OTOH, , they make mediocre productions sound like trash.

The build, fit and finish of this network switch is superb. It is small because it uses a wall wart for a power supply. But do not be fooled. English Electric says this power supply is fast and quiet- optimized for this switch and they recommend not substituting it with an LPS. It sounds slightly better to me than the LHY SW-8 which I used for 10 months. It also runs cooler than the SW-8. It contains an internal, oven controlled clock, just like the SW-8. I can easily recommend this switch as a great accessory for a music server.

The EE8 switch was a great addition to my system. MQ is improved in many ways especially tighter punchier bass, cleaner highs, and more air/sparkle. I highly recommend this product to enhance your streaming experience.
