“TL;DR a pair REL Carbon Special Black Labels have been a revelation for my system. First, the aesthetics. I've always been a grills-off listener, but the wood grills are so lovely that I've left them on. That alone says something. Setup took some patience - I'm not a setup pro - but the effort really paid off. I was very happy with what I heard but couldn't resist taking some measurements with Room EQ Wizard - solid output all the way down to 15 Hz! Seriously, read and follow REL's setup guides. The weight and heft these brought to music is everything I hoped for from a pair of subs at this level. Low and mid-low instruments now have richness and presence that I can't unhear. But the real surprise? The soundstage. Without the RELs most of the soundstage sits just in front of the front wall with a few elements extending 2-3 feet beyond. Adding the RELs moved the bulk of the soundstage just beyond the front wall, many elements sit 3-5+ feet beyond, and there is no sense that the soundstage has a definite "end". These are exceptional.”
