It's 30 years since i last owned a turntable and the Dr Feickert Volare with OL tonearm and Sumiko Amethyst could well be my last. The build quality is outstanding and in the walnut finish the table looks stunning. The sound character is natural and neutral, nothing added, nothing removed. Particularly impressive is the soundstage, which is both wide and deep, and conveys a sense of realism. It's been a pleasure getting reacquainted with my 70s and 80s vinyl with the Volare, as well as some new material. Note the Mk4 OL tonearm shipped with the Volare I received. Kat is an absolute star. I started with a different turntable (which developed a speed stability issue) and phono preamp (which had a ground issue we couldn't resolve). Kat wouldn't leave either of these issues until i was happy and has provided great support since i received the Volare.

This is the finest turntable that I have ever had the privilege to use. The fabrication quality is amazing and the speed controls are smooth and quick. The motor and platter run so smoothly that I couldn't tell if they were actually turning (no record on the turntable at the time). The sound coming from the Volare and the Origin Live arm is fantastic and it made my previous turntable sound like an old wax cylinder. Kat and Ken were great to work with and answered all my questions. Kat even emailed me photos of my turntable when she set it up. I plan to buy all my future system components from Upscale Audio.

I like the table a lot, built very solid. Still dialing in the tone arm, need to find the fine tune of the VTA. Using the gage that came with the tone arm shows the arm needs to go down. With the Soundsmith cart that I have is brute with my speakers! I have nautilus 803s speakers. Some vinyl makes my ears bleed. Changed settings on tube phone stage, upped the capacitance and thinking about changing the 10K loading, possibly going up. Just getting this setup takes time to get it sounding right.
