I replaced the factory original KT88s in my McIntosh MC275 MK VI 50th Anniversary Edition amp. These Electro-Harmonix KT88s have made a profound improvement in dynamics, 3-D soundstage, and bass performance. An improvement in every way! Highly recommended.

These tubes are fantastic. I have only used EL34 tubes in my AES SIX PACS. The increase in bass is very evident. Very tight bass and the midrange is as good as the EL34's as is the high end. I use 12 so it was not cheap but worth every penny. I'm loving my A system now. Perfect blend of punchy power and silky detailed smoothness. Had Tung Sol KT120s in my Primaluna Evo 400 integrated amp, took a break from them and went back to the stock tubes which are really musical but I was missing something… Bought the KT88s and let them settle but as soon as it was powered on, I knew I was onto something special. Really musical and tight and resolving. I think I found my ultimate.

These tubes are very good. The sonic description by Kevin & the reviews by others are exactly what I heard. I have tried the GL The Mullard & the EH from upscale. All sound great in my amp. All based on Kevin’s description. Of course I prefer one of the 3 brands compared to my stock tubes. I’m so glad I tried ALL of them!! Each pair was like getting a new amp.

This is the 3rd tube amp Upscale has provided me valves for. I always go back to them because when there is a problem, they stand behind what they sell. At the time of this post I have over 420 HRS on them. The midrange is becoming more and more into full bloom. I suspect I will need to put another 180 HRS or so, before I consider them fully broken in. If you own a Zesto Bia or Eros amps I found them to be a good choice. They keep all the musical accuracy that the stock JJ’s have, but have a much more natural sounding timbre. On vocals especially, they are fuller and more realistic sounding when contrasted to the JJ’s. The caveat is, they do have a long break in time. You will hear a bit of bite in the treble for a minimum of a 150 HRS. Mine still are not fully broken in, but ever since I rolled to them, I am enjoying the hell out of my amps. If you want accuracy that does not sound cold and clinical. I cannot recommend this tube enough.
