“I do not have more than one other pair of 6BQ5 for comparison sake here, but I must say that this was a fantastic purchase overall. I was moving for a pair of old RCA tubes to this set of EI tubes in my flea watt amp. They show generous boosts in both mids and lows. The highs sparkle as well now. I would highly recommend these babies if you are using as power stage for high efficiency loudspeakers. They're worth it certainly, but does leave me curious about the Tungsram that are available for three times the price. Awful habit we have here...”

“Warm and Smooth.. Great weight, texture and extension. If you have super detailed cans (I use Focal), you may find better synergy with these Tubes vs. other mid-forward el84s. The guys at Upfront are very helpful and responsive.”

“As a full-time reviewer, I am always on the lookout for top NOS output tubes. Current production tubes are generally a waste of time. I got in a headphone amp to review that used EL84's and was supplied with current Mullards. The amp sounded grainy and two dimensional. Uncle Kevin suggested the EI EL84 and sent a pair. The NOS EI tubes were intensely musical, perfectly balanced, and detailed to the max. Imaging was spot-on superb. I had no idea the head amp was that good. At $30 each, they are an over the top and down the street bargain. Pass on these at your peril!”

“Not too experienced with these tube types but I do think they add a touch of warmth to the presentation which is helpful compared to the stock tubes.”
