“I replaced the front two of the stock Primaluna 12AU7 tubes with these Gold Lions. I'm still not sure if I like them better than the stock tubes or not. I replaced them because I felt like the stock tubes were a little weak on the higher frequencies. The Gold Lion tubes are better at the high frequencies, but they are not as strong as the PrimaLuna tubes on the low frequencies. Whether I like them better or not depends a lot on the record. For recordings where the bass was already really heavy, I like the Gold Lions because they take some of the bass off and the top end really shines. But if it's not a heavy bass recording, the Gold Lions sound a little thin. I ended up going back to the PrimaLuna 12AU7 tubes, and then I replaced the stock EL34 power tubes with Tung-Sol KT-120's. Those things are incredible! So if you want to try out some tube rolling with your PrimaLuna amp, my first suggestion would be to swap out the power tubes, from the stock EL34 to the KT-120's. They are incredible!”
