“So far, not impressed. IMO, the Hana Red is muffled in the higher frequencies. The bass is also thinner than I would have expected. My Lyra Delos blows this cartridge away. I hope it’s sonic character improves as it fully breaks in.”

“I have had this for about 4 weeks now and I could not be more pleased. My system is very revealing and the addition of this cart to my vinyl set-up was a perfect choice. I have other carts in this price range and I was not at all unhappy with their performance. I read quite a few reviews and forum posts about the Hana MC carts and my curiosity got the best of me. I will say this is the best-balanced and the sweetest sounding cart I have ever heard. It is extremely detailed uncovering even more information in my vinyl. The instruments and vocals seem like they have quite a bit more to them now, much more complete and lifelike. Everything is extremely clear and detailed without even a hint of edginess, just beautiful. Improved space in the music and an expanded 3-dimensional soundstage. I didn't know I was missing any of this until I heard this cartridge. Thanks as always to the excellent staff at Upscale Audio and a special thank you to Kat. Highly recommended.”

“I had the Hana ML and enjoyed it so much I decided to upgrade to the Hana Umami when Hana offered the trade-up deal. I'm glad I did it, though the cost was a stretch, but this retired audiophile just had to audition a truly "high end" cartridge at least once. The Umami is everything the ML is but just better. Dynamics, timbre, low frequency articulation, detail - it's all there but most importantly it remains musical. And no matter how high the volume this cart just remains absolutely composed. I am still deciding on a final load setting and having great fun in the process.”

“I upgraded to the Umani from a ML. The difference is a dramatic change in overall balance. I suspect there will be increased dynamic range once I have broken in the cartridge. My only complaint is that the set screws that accompanied the cartridge too long or too short for my tone arm. Upscale was extremely helpful, friendly and supportive in finding what would work best for my stereo. Their focus was what was going to make me happy and not what they needed to unload or sell. I ended up upgrading my pre amp too! I will not buy from anyone else in the future.”
