“I love these speakers. I am using a Marantz SR5013 home theater receiver as a stereo receiver with the Focals as the only speakers. Although I use this for my TV also, My primary reason for buying was to listen to music. They sound fantastic in this setup even though the Marantz is not technically a stereo receiver. Others have mentioned a break in period, and this has been my experience also. The sound has gotten steadily better over about a month of use. I get a good smooth sound with good separation. It sounds like you are listening to actual instruments as opposed to recordings of instruments. I went through the receiver's audio setup and use it's defaults for TV and video with good results. The dialogue is clear and the music and sound effects sound like they are in the room with you. When listening to music, I switch to the equalizer with the settings flat. I am hearing things in my music that I never noticed before. You get the same great sound at all volumes, so you can listen loud with no listening fatigue. My only issue is with the receiver. It is 100 watts per channel, but I'm not sure that's sufficient when listening at lower volumes. I am considering adding an amplifier and using the Marantz as a preamp. That being said, I love my speakers and plan to purchase Focals for my outdoor patio also.”

“These Focal Aria 936 speakers are gorgeous and really look like they are high quality. I am still breaking them in but they already have great imaging and very good highs and bass. I used a couple of recommendations on where to position them in my 14x14 living room that’s open in the back to the kitchen. I ended up with the speakers 3ft from both the side walls and back wall. My sitting position is about 9ft away and the speakers are 8ft apart and very slightly toed in. They actually sounded good without any toe in. I highly recommend these beauties!”

“First I'd like to clear up some misconceptions. The initial break in period for these speakers is NOT 100 hours... It's three songs! You will hear magic in 3-5 songs. Great speakers. The sound is very neutral. The bass is much better than I expected. I have owned Monitor Audio and really do enjoy them. These are better! Joel, in corporate was on top of my purchase and let me know when they were shipping. First rate all the way. Very pleased!”
