These are great speakers. The horn driven tweeter and midrange driver provide a wide area for listening besides the "sweet spot" in the middle. I also own some Kef LS-50s which are equally clear in providing a large soundstage, but lack the bottom end below 80hz. The woofer and passive reflex woofer in the rear provide a mid to low range bass kick. I have two SVS SB4000 sub-woofers for use with several bookshelf size speakers I own, but with the Forte IV speakers, they are not really needed. Jazz sounds great and live performances even more so. Classical music with full symphony orchestras sound full bodied and room filling. Rock and roll depends more on the quality of the recording. Some of the older rock music which was not recorded that well will not sound great, the flaws in the recording are revealed and not glossed over. Using a PrimaLuna EVO400 integrated amplifier, I find the tube amplifier combined with a horn-driven speaker like the Forte results in a really clear, well defined soundstage. A recording by Diana Krall sounds like you are in the room with her. I would recommend these speakers for anyone looking for overall great sound quality with a precise, not boomy bottom end.
