“It sounds fantastic. I don't want to bash on any other brands, but for context it was an upgrade from a competitor's phonostage that was about half the price. The most obvious thing I noticed were that vocals sound much more real, that "in the room sound" people usually like to attribute to tubes. Dynamics are big, bass is tight and deep, trebles are detailed / clear, but in no way harsh. Just really well balanced. Specialization is great, and this is specialization x 2. A phono stage from a guy that only makes phono stages that can only be used with MC cartridges (and best with low output, low internal impedance cartridges). I'm very grateful for the pleasant, non-blinding, amber colored led to show it's on. It would be nice if some other manufacturers realized no one is trying to land a plane guided by the LEDs on their equipment. Big shout out to the customer service at Upscale. I originally ordered a Manley Chinook and changed my mind after it was already on the way. Upscale was very accommodating and kept me from having to send it back. They were able to contact Fedex, revert the package, and it was refunded the day it arrived back in CA.”
