Bigger and richer sound than the Kleis, which itself was excellent. I think the sound quality was achieved by having professional installation by Dean Witte from St Louis. He has more patience and brought the best out of the cartridge.

While the Atlas Lambda is still breaking in (about 12 hours on it now), I can already tell it is going to be the best cartridge I have ever had and I very much liked the Etna the Atlas Lambda is replacing. A lot of what I read about the new suspension system in the Lambda's seems to be appearing in my system. The detail is amazing which was expected with Lyra and especially the Atlas. I am definitely hearing things I never heard on most of my favorite albums and the tone is extraordinary. The cartridge is extremely quiet. This translates to an amazingly wide and deep soundstage with real and very well seperated space between musicians. What a great enhancement in the listening experience. The thing I was uncertain about was whether the Atlas Lambda would be too analytical for me. The first hour it was, but it is opening up with every listening session and it is developing real meat on the bones of every note. However it is keeping the quick response at the start of a note which to me sounds real. I am extremely happy with this purchase and with Upscale Audio. I have to give a big shout out to Kevin and his team. They were attentive, professional and extremely helpful. In addition I purchased some cables. They kept me posted at every stage of the purchase process, shipping and delivery. I have to tell a story on Kevin, a couple of years ago I bought some cables and the company delivering the cables left them at the wrong house. His team was great working with the company to help sort this out. The process took over ten days and Kevin called me to assure me that I would get the cables even if they had to send me others. That was very reassuring. What I found out later, is he called me from Europe where he was vacationing with his wife. Now that is customer service.
