These have got to be some of the best small room speakers available. They are designed to work well without having to be 3 feet from the rear walls and 4 feet from the sides. To meet that requirement you need a 16X12 room minimum. 200ft2. And be willing to write of most of the room for the system. Not happening in most condos and apartments. Instead, these can be out just a couple feet from the backwall and 2-3 feet from the sides like you could do in a 10 or 12 foot wide condo living room, like 120-150ft2. Do that, and the Silver 200s will shine. Enough bass to be convincing, not enough to bother the neighbors. Punchy, superb midsdeceny soundstage and imaging. Pair with a good 60-80 watt integrated.

Before you spring for mini-monitors and stands, and if your listening room is under 200 ft2, seriously consider the MA S200 7s. The 2.5 floorstanding design adds almost a full octave tight, controlled bass (-6dB@34Hz) and a much larger soundstage in the same footprint as a mini on a stand, while still keeping all the imaging and definition minis are known for. To that add a relatively easy load and reasonable sensitivity. MA's driver expertise and execution is on full show here, with their famous gold-dome tweeter and newly designed waveguide. a Ceramic coated aluminum/magnesium mid-bass drivers attached with a single bolt from the rear, stiffen the whole enclosure, which has been laser-tuned and braced for minimal resonance. Dual rear ports allow easy room placement, their high/low positioning allowing fine tuning of the bass in your room. In short, this is a seriously well thought out product, one that is fast, clean, and musically satisfying, top to bottom. It's limits are only in sub-bass and maximum volume. Paired with a good 40-80 w/ch amp, you can expect a lot of enjoyment for a pretty moderate investment. I did, and I do. These are more than competitive with the likes of the KEF R3 (still needs stands) and the Magnepan .7 (great - if you've got the Watts and a dipole-compatible room). I'll be keeping mine for a long time. Pair with NAD 338, 368, or Marantz PM 7000N, and maybe a Rega P3 (or Project Debut Carbon Evo or T2 if the budget demands).
