“My son inherited a Sony Record Player from his grandfather along with his records. Until then my son listened 100% to hip hop only. Since then my son has listened to all his grandpa's records including all 8 od Beetoven's symphonies. When he got the record player home he needed a phono pre s I bought him a Pyle phono pre for$19.95. 5 years later I bought the Clear Audio used pre for $200. Pocket lint in audiophile land but I thought Clear Audio could be trusted. I gave it to him on Christmas and he took it home to his apt in San Francisco. A few weeks later, without prompting, I had forgotten all about it, he said to me "it sounds really good". It was very gratifying, from a $20 pre to a $200/400 and he could actually hear the difference. In the distant future my next pre for him will be an Audio Note Kit tube pre at $2k, another 10x$ leap. In the meantime the next upgrade for him will be an appropriate needle/cartridge upgrade. Upscale Audio sell a Gagillion $'s of gear so I wonder whether a $200 is worth reading this for. P.S. Kat is a rockstar on those videos!”
