Although it is quiet the gain is so low it's not a practical piece of equipment that suits my needs! I am running the Evo 400 preamp with XLR inputs this phono stage lacks that option..For these reasons I give it a very poor rating!

Nice options to have 2 cartridges connected to one phono pre... only found on expensive units. Sounds awesome for the money! Solid build... no plastic!

Greetings audiophiles. These words are for Musical Fidelity's LX2-LPS (MM/MC) phonostage, @$299.00. The first thing I noticed was that my speaker's sounded better. How? That's an engineering question beyond my pay-grade. Why? Because I heard a much improved mix in the soundstage. Also the bass went deeper and, with greater detail. No coloration from the unit just what was being tracked from the vinyl. I enjoyed greater system slam as well. Thank-you LX2-LPS. This phonostage will work with MM cartridges so long as there rated at 3mv or, higher. However if one plans on using a MI (2.12mv) cartridge I'd look elsewhere. I haven't used the MC stage yet but, this is a selling point I looked at. The competition at this price point might be from the Lehmann Black Cube Statement and, The Rega Fono MM. I haven't heard these phonostages but did check out reviews such as the 5-star review in What Hi-Fi? for the Rega and, The 5-Star for the LX2-LPS from the same source. These were convincing as they come from knowing pro's who get to hear most of what's available today. This is not a Manley or, a Parasound but the Musical Fidelity LX2-LPS will deftly bring out what's there to heard in your system. Equipment used for review: Ortofon 2M Bronze, MoFi StudioDeck. PSVANE EL-34 Integrated Amplifier @35 watts. KLH Albany speakers. Amplifier Surgery silver plated copper phono cables and, RCA interconnects. A word to the Upscale Audio Distribution Center: All Pro.
