I wanted to downscale from racks of gear. I had previously owned great separates from Constellation, Hegel, Audio Research, Air Tight, Luxman, Marantz, etc. Down deep into the hifi rabbit hole. I bought the M33 to drive some Raidho speakers. Using it as a Roon end point, with Dirac full room correction. I'm happy and will be keeping this piece for a long time. Beautiful design, great interface, wonderful options (upgradeable, can add into bays in back, two subwoofer outputs, etc etc). It is proof if engineered and built correctly using new technology (I traditionally prefer Class A or tubes and their version of class D is flawless), one doesn't need a barn sized room to hold equipment nor a second mortgage to have high fidelity engaging music.

The M33 does everything. I'm very pleased with this streamer the sound quality, roon ready, etc. Dirac Live plays a big role here you just have to find the right setup for you.

I replaced my Mcintosh C47 preamp and Anthem MCA 225 power amp with the NAD M33. I was not happy with the dry, somewhat lifeless sound. I did not feel this was a sonic improvement with my Spatial Sapphire M3 speakers. I am considering the Hegel 390 but you do not stock it. I really wanted the NAD to work out since I read some many good reviews. It may be my smaller room that's causing a problem. I ended up returning the NAD.

The NAD M33 is an extremely competent piece of gear. I added a great set of speakers, a clean AC (Audioquest) and a wonderful Ethernet cable and I am in love with the music it produces. This is my second NAD component and I am sure it will be as iconic as the 3020 I bought in the seventies. I do not miss the Sugden class A amp, the Holosprings2 dac, the separate streamer and all the cables this unit replaced. The M33 has superb tone, definition and dynamics. The Dirac room correction is a wonder addition to all my room treatments and the $99 for the full range version is money well spent. A phone or tablet is all the remote you will ever need. I am anxious for it to be Roon ready. Thank you Upscale Audio for your friendly staff. Greg
