“Took this over the Cambridge Audio unit. I had seen some reviews complaining about the set-up on the DAC - no idea why... great intuitive interface. The important end - sound. Very clean, running through Prima Luna Evo' amp and consequently listening to CD's again for the first time in years. And... a shout-out to Ken for his wise counsel - thx.”

“The Marantz ND8006 is a 4 plus Star in terms of the actual unit. It is solid, looks great, and from a feature-set perspective it was exactly what I was looking for. A good quality CD transport with network/streaming capabilities. I wasn't interested in having a unit that rips CDs (more effectively accomplished on a PC) and this unit is one of the few out there that accomplish the necessary tasks at a mid price range. However the HEOS streaming software from Marantz/Denon is a ONE STAR and probably less than that. In order to stream TIDAL for increased bandwidth you have to go through HEOS. And HEOS sucks. The software is buggy and worse, the ability to easily shuffle and simply play tracks off of an album or from an artist is nearly impossible. There are a lot of complaints about HEOS that I hadn't read prior to purchasing this unit. While I think I would have purchased the Marantz anyway, it gives me real pause. It seems that Marantz/Denon has been pretty unresponsive in terms of providing needed updates to their software. Not surprising really. They are an old school audio manufacturer...not a technology company.”
