“As many reviews have noted, AudioQuest opted for less energy in the low-mid treble for the NightOwl compared to classic headphones like the Sennheiser HD6xx series. Following on the success of the NightHawk, the NightOwl has significant less midbass power than the NightHawk, although many reviews don't report it as a weak bass. Overall, the NightOwl sound is neutral to slightly rolled off on the low end and shy in the mid treble ('presence' region). But whether you accept the sound as-is or tweak it with tone controls or EQ, what you will hear is a quality of sound that's excellent hi-fi. I didn't pick up on that at first, but I realize after listening to several other headphones in a similar price range, that the NightOwl produces the more musical sound.”
