“I replaced my 30 year old Adcom GTP-500, which was the audio part of my entertainment system, with the NR1711. I use it as an audio preamp/video controller. It drives my Adcom GFA-555MKII power amp powering Magnepan MG2.7's; and I use the HDMI ARC port with my Samsung Q900R TV. I can control the NR1711 with the TV's remote through on-screen selections which is convenient. The Audysey EQ setup worked and it seems to have corrected a few acoustic "artifacts" of my living room so I am happy with the sound. At the moment, I only have the two Magnepans but I intend to go to 4.1 or 5.1 with rear speakers and a subwoofer. I want to get down to 20Hz which is hard to do with anything less than a 15 inch driver and a big box so I wanted an AV receiver with a subwoofer out which this has. The low profile was very important to me and this AV receiver is about the same size as the preamp it replaced. The only missing items, in my view, are preamp outs for the other channels. If it had those, it would be absolutely perfect.”
