A followup to my review below. I got a new set of speakers, JM Reynaud Cantabile Jubilee speakers, which are small, 2.5-way transmission line floorstanders. These Reynauds are 91db efficient as opposed to 87db of my previous speakers. My last speakers extended down to 43hz. The Cantabile Jubilee extend down to 36hz. They also extend higher at the top end. Something like 22kHz for the Cantabiles vs 17kHz of my previous speakers. In any event, the Reynauds are in another league from my previous speakers, Castle Edens, as wonderful those were in their own way. What has REALLY come out in tandem with the Pathos Classic Remix is the astonishing pace. The transients are lightning quick. Alongside with the Cantabile's astonishing ability to convey the specificity of the soundstage, the realism of the presentation renders the musicians' performance rather than the mere reproduction of the recording. I've had guests in my house who have told me that, while listening, it's like the performers are there in front of you, performing for you. I have not heard any other Pathos products, but that says a lot about the Classic Remix's ability as well as the Reynaud's, and how well they mate together. The bass is still not the grippiest. But still, the combo presents the bass pretty honestly. There's no bloat, but the bass is tuneful. Perhaps another amp might have more grip on the bottom end, but the midrange reproduction is pretty remarkable.
