I have used many headphone amps from Pass Labs, to Manley, to Questyle and I strongly recommend this Pathos amp. Never edgy or sibilant.

WOW...Very impressed. After watching Kevins video I decided to purchase the Aurium along with the Sbooster. Upon receiving I replaced the EH tubes with a pair of Kevins Stash Gold Lions I had. I did not try the Aurium with the included power supply so unable to commit on that. After about 100 hours this sweet Italian started to sing beautifuly and with each session just sounding sweeter. Upscale is the best...

First of all thanks for Kevin 's excellent clip on youtube . Aurium is marvellous product with excellent sound. I love its zero feedback and tons of connectivities . Despite it was a rocky start when pairing my DAC, RME ADI-2 FS with Aurium's XLR tape out. I found this problem can be solved easily by lowering RME's gain to 0 or even negative then add it back little by little to your liking. As gain is no longer an issue, I figured out what to do with inputs and outputs Aurium generously offered . I had XLR Tapeout from Aurium connected to Luxman 550 AXll while RCA output from DAC goes to Woo Audio WA 2 or someday I would switch to MC C33 . Yet there is 1 RCA Tapeout and many inputs left at Aurium. so I connected 1 of those inputs with Schiit Mani 1 for MM cartridge and another with Goldnote PH 10 for MC Cartridge , so that i can listen to vinyls as loud as i wish at night. 1 Tapeout left from Aurium can be connected to all my babies either Luxman, Woo Audio , Sophia Electric Baby , C33 , Cayin CS 55 and many old Sansui when listening to vinyls

I tried a couple higher end portables and a couple other tube table top units and the Pathos was the clear winner. The others were too hot too cold depending on gain switches while the Pathos has a very nice variable gain knob to dial in exactly what you want. Sound quality is phenomenal too. The other standout feature is the superb volume control. Extremely usable sweep. No negatives I can think of.

After 50 hours of break in, AND after adjusting my iPhone's volume down 1 notch, the Aurium is a wonder to behold. Initially, I heard major distortion. This was because the Aurium needed less gain from the source. I tried the switches on the bottom of the unit (have to turn it off and on for switches to take effect) to no avail. Then on a whim I turned my phone volume down one notch and bingo, perfect sound. I use a Matrix Audio x-spdif 2 interface (i2s connection), then Denafrips Pontus dac (balanced). The sound is bigger, richer, and has more resolution than my trusted iFi Micro i-dsd black label. Headphones are Hifiman Sundara. It's difficult to stop listening; SUCH a refined and 3D soundscape. Thank you, Upscale, for the great product and great service.
