“I love talking about this amp. It's the best-looking piece of equipment that I own, but it also sounds brilliant. I've used closed and open-backed headphones with this unit (Focal Elegia and Elear, and Senn HD800s), and it handles all with aplomb. Open, spacious sound with good bass and warm mids. Also, I love all the inputs it has, the balance and gain are adjustable, and, best of all, the record out (fixed output) is something I've only ever seen in this amp, which saves amp inputs and also gives you some flexibility/options with your setup and sound. Finally, it also pairs well--I've used it with Audiolab, Naim, Cyrus and Musical Surroundings amps/preamps and it never sounded not-superb. The only thing I could say about it that may be construed as a criticism would be that I've only heard minimal improvements in sound (and some drop, actually) from trading out the tubes--but I will say that the stock tubes (electro harmonix?) sound just about as good as the >$100 tubes I tried in their place. Anyway...for me this an end-game unit. And if I had the cash, I would buy two and save one for a rainy day.”
