I completely agree with Mike and David’s reviews. I’ll simply add that it has a rich, clear and as noted, a detailed sound, wide soundstage and drives my impedance challenged electrostatics beautifully. The result is that I can’t seem to stop listening. Very immersive and addicting. I enjoy music more than ever, which is what this hobby is all about. Thanks for your help, Joel!

I’m looking for to finish my endgame system, so when I saw the I2 price drop into a range I could afford, I arranged for a demo with Joel. I compared the I2 to the Prima Luna EVO 400 as I own the HP. The Pathos sounded richer, more detailed and more clear, with a wider soundstage. It wasn’t as warm sounding as the PL, but the midrange had a “palpable presence” which drew me into the music. And the soundstage! I understand Kevin’s point about the ghost voices around Leonard Cohen in “Bird on a Wire” as I experienced a similar moment on “The Great Gate of Kiev” from Pictures at an Exhibition. The soundstage expanded far outside the right speaker. Very cool! Finally, the PL is a fine amp, but it smooths off texture. With the Pathos, I could hear all the texture from instruments like acoustic guitar. Add it together, and I find myself immersing in music much more than I used to. I’ve had the Pathos home for 2.5 weeks, and while I’m 440 hours short of the 500 hour break in, it sounds amazing with my tube based electronics and speakers which are efficient but a demanding load. I’m very satisfied. The 60 day free trial really lowers the anxiety involved with buying an expensive component. Guaranteed satisfaction. I agree with Mike, David, Kevin, Joel and the What Hi Fi? review. The I2 is addicting in the best way. Thank you Joel for your patience in demoing both amps. We’ll done, sir!
