A little overdue for this - purchased from Upscale in the fall of 2021. Since then the value of my system has increased with some upgrades but the PL 300i remains. Some or many will recommend that your amp/preamp or int amp be as much as 25-40% or more of your system's value. My 300i is only about 11-12% of my system including around $1,800 in tubes! And it's not going anywhere. It has been a fun trip with tube rolling but I have found (for me) the magical combination of: (2) KT-150s + (2) 6L6GC tubes in the power slots (so two different kinds of power tubes!) and a combo of Radiotechinque (sp) and Brimars up front. The all KT-150s sounded great but the 6L6GCs added, added unbelievably clear midrange while still keeping the loooooww end of the 150s. I would put mine up against amps costing 2-3x as much. 11/10.

This amp is awesome. Sounds fantastic at low volume or turned up. Miles Davis or Motorhead. Also, my headphones never sounded this good before.

Purchased a Silver Evo 300 one year ago and It’s driving Klipsch LaScala’s. PLENTY of power, volume knob hardly ever gets past the 10:00 position, music emerges from a super quiet background with great separation and soundstage, classical jazz rock no problem. After a few months I did roll in some NOS RCA clear tops for drivers and NOS Mullards in the gain spot with 1960’s era Amperex EL34’s and got a huge overall gain, especially in the top and midrange, detailed warm, clean and clear nowhere near to bright. Was using the amp so much I got worried about wearing out the Amperex EL34’s So I rolled in a quad of mid 90’s Svetlana Winged C 6550’s that I took out of another amp years ago because I thought they were spent (I remember watching an upscale video with Kevin saying “do not throw away tubes, even if you think they are spent” he’s right). Moved the bias switch to high and I think now I will run this set up until I get a red light. Still have the great mids and highs with the 6550’s but the bass is much better, quicker punchier deeper. Never had an amp with a remote control, it is so nice and this remote is built like a tank. Added a HF Rose RS250 streamer and being able to control them both from your chair is awesome, not the best for your health but awesome. I’m Extremely happy with this amp and all interactions with Upscale have been positive, great people to work with. Thanks Sean Paul, Frank, even got to talk to Kevin once.
