“Without a doubt, these super smooth, ultra detailed, quiet Popes are the very best you can buy today. RCA and GE types sound edgy compared to these. The Russian types are bright and hard to tame. The British types are so variable, who knows? But the Popes are spot on musical and open. Very mellifluous! Love them. Only quibble: of the 4 I bought, 2 failed within 500 hours, the other 2 have 1000 hours and still are perfect. Using them in a Cary amp with 300B output tubes. I would take the chance and buy them anyway with a couple of spares. Its not a perfect world!”
