“This review covers my experience with a number of products available from Upscale Audio. First a little background about my system: Marantz AV 8801 processor, running to three Emotiva Amps, XPA3 powering Center and Surrounds (Anthony Gallo Reference AV series speakers)and Two XPA1â€:tm:s providing 1000 watts of power to each Magnepan 1.7. REL R328 Sub. All audio cables are Audioquest, and power cables are PS Audio. Power distribution by Furman. Last year lead me down the path of a complete overhaul of my system introducing all of the above products over a six month time period. While my system sounded great I never got the â€œYou are Thereâ€ experience from 2 channel stereo audio that most of the reviewers of the Maggie 1.7s raved about. This led me down the path of looking for tweaks this year and new cable options. My system had been running Audioquest Columbia interconnects with 48v dbs packs. Prior to these were Audioquest King Cobra. First let me say that Columbiaâ€:tm:s are great cables with a smooth slightly warm sound and increased sense of space and air between musiciansâ€:tm: which King Cobra just doesnâ€:tm:t deliver. I decided to step up to Audioquest Coloradoâ€:tm:s with 72v dbs. Once broken in, the largest improvement noted over Columbia was the soundstage width. With the Columbiaâ€:tm:s the soundstage was as wide as the speakers, with the Coloradoâ€:tm:s the soundstage extend two feet out beyond the speaker, and made for a remarkable transformation. Next I upgraded the sub interconnect to Audioquestâ€:tm:s new Husky cable. This cable change brought a real low end growl to my system that is really intoxicating. This cable is fast, detailed, but also really delivers that primal low bass sound that you get from a live rock concert. At this point the only thing I felt I was lacking was image depth. I had the width and low end punch with the upgrades to Colorado and Husky but I craved the three dimensional sound. On a whim I decided to try the PS Audio Power Ports, for $100.00 outlay for two it was worth the gamble. I was really skeptical that wall outlets could make a difference; after all, my gear was plugged into a power distribution center. This simple change was really remarkable, dynamics grew, soundstage width expanded by another two feet beyond the speakers over what the change to the Coloradoâ€:tm:s brought. Sense of space and air between musicians also became more prominent, but still lacked in image depth. The last piece of the puzzle QRTâ€:tm:s QV2. With the QV2 plugged into the wall outlet, the room vanished. Suddenly I was sitting in the front row dead center for every performance. Finally I had the â€œyou are thereâ€ experience that reviewers of the 1.7 raved about. Each upgrade brought incremental increases, but the QV2 in incredible. It is so good I just ordered a second as QRT says the work best in pairs. P.S. The service from Upscale Audio is top notch.”

“The Nordost QV2 adds depth an dpresence to music without altering it. The unit also visibly lowers the noise floor. Colors pop and grain is removed. I have tried many products and this on eis it if you want a dramatic upgrade without a dramatic price.”
